STOICA & ASSOCIAȚII - "Professor Constantin Stătescu" civil law mock trial competition

"What do we choose between rigid contractual provisions and a settled practice between more flexible parties in business relations and what are the risks we expose ourselves to"? This was just one of the many legal issues debated by students from the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, during the 6th edition of the "Professor Constantin Stătescu" civil law mock trial competition, a project organized by STOICA & ASSOCIAȚII and the Association of Law Students, in collaboration with the Center for Natural Law Studies and Normative Analysis (CSDNAN), during the period March – May 2024.

 

More than 50 students participated in the written stage of the competition, and the eight best teams qualified for the pleading stage. On May 11, 2024, the quarter-finals and semifinals took place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, and on May 12, 2024, the final of the competition took place, during which the two best teams had the opportunity to present his arguments, in one of the meeting rooms of the High Court of Cassation and Justice, before a jury made up of law specialists, composed of Prof. univ. Dr. emeritus Valeriu Stoica – Founding Partner -, lect. university Dr. Laura-Ioana Toma-Dăuceanu, Cătălina Dicu - Senior Partner-, Dan-Rareș Răducanu - Senior Partner - and Daniel Aragea - Partner.

The winning team of this year's edition of the contest (1st place) was formed by Alexia-Maria Rizoiu and Andreea Tatu, and the second place went to the other finalist team formed by Cristiana Romanovschi and Iulia Enuc. Also, the jury of the final decided to award the best individual award to the student Iulia Enuc. Third place went to the semi-finalist teams, formed by Radu Antal and Andra Nedelea, respectively Sabina Stafie and Iulia Stroe. Mentions for the qualification in the pleas stage were awarded to the teams composed of the following students: Mihai Săvoiu and Iulia Scarlat; Mălina Harasim and Mihnea Diaconescu; Raluca-Maria Eșeanu and Daniel Barbu; Ana-Maria Pieleanu and Valentina Barbu. Also, the jury in the quarter-finals decided to award an individual mention for pleading to the student Mihai Săvoiu.

The effort made by the students was rewarded by STOICA & ASSOCIAȚII with cash prizes and internships within the law society. Congratulations to all participants!

The STOICA & ASOCIAțII team thanks the students from the Law Students Association for their excellent collaboration in organizing the contest (Raluca Ababei, Cristina Constantin, Aiana Măntescu, Lorena Toma, Andreea Draghia, Radu Oancea, Amaliza Mișcodan, Andreea Ratiș, Livia Gogoașa and Dariana Șandru), as well as fellow lawyers involved in this project (Irina Titorian, Mircea Vasile, Angelica Alecu, Andreea Gurică, Mihai Trandafir, Paula Maftei, Corina Șerbănescu and Constantin Pintilie).

Becoming a tradition, the "Professor Constantin Stătescu" civil law mock trial competition brings together students and legal professionals, with the aim of supporting the training of future lawyers in a student competition based on the principles of fairness, cooperation and excellence. Part of the institutional philosophy of STOICA & ASSOCIAȚII, the competition has become a landmark for the students of the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest.
