At the end of the Intellectual Property Conference / November 15-16
We offer our sincere thanks to the two prestigious academic institutions - the Faculty of Law of the University of Bucharest, the Faculty of Law of the Western University of Timișoara - which organized the 11th edition of the Intellectual Property Conference, held last week in Bucharest, with the theme, generous and challenging, dedicated to quality systems.
On this occasion, STOICA & ASOCIAȚII supported the "Vine and wine law – In vino veritas: quality protection and quality of protection" module, an absolute first initiative for the legal and business environment in the field of vines and wine in Romania.
We express our thanks to all the participants - university teaching staff, students, legal practitioners, representatives of institutions in the field and from the diplomatic environment who, by their presence, confirmed the special interest in this field of law, proven to be extremely useful to all those who works in the world of wine.
Our appreciation goes to the two guests, distinguished jurists Jean-Baptiste Thial de Bordenave - lawyer, Mineral Avocats and president of the President of International Wine Lawyers Association (AIDV) - and Lionel Lalagüe, Director of public and international affairs, BNI -, from Bordeaux, respectively from Cognac, France, who presented an extensive picture of the French legislation and the practice regarding traditional labelling and claims, as well as a very useful review of the main elements that characterize consumer protection in the current context of digitalization, sustainability and health safety in wine and spirits.
Within this panel, STOICA & ASOCIAȚII was represented by the lawyers Cristiana I. Stoica - Founding Partner -, as moderator and by Dragoș Bogdan andAndreea Stoica- Co-Managing Partners -, whose presentations highlighted legislative and jurisprudential aspects regarding the application the regulations in the matter of designations of controlled origin and geographical indications in the wine field, with extremely useful examples from CJEU jurisprudence.
We are convinced that this initiative regarding the foray into vineyard and wine law represents a promising start for the business, institutional and legal environments in Romania, hoping for more such events in the future.
