The Society for Juridical Sciences organized on the 22nd of January the debate “The Presumption of Innocence”

, attended by reputed law professionals specialized in criminal law.
The main debated issue was the EU Directive 2016/343 regarding the consolidation of some aspects of the presumption of innocence and of the right to be present at the trial in the criminal proceedings.
During the debate, Veronica Dobozi, Partner STOICA & ASOCIAȚII, pointed out several essential aspects regarding the observance of the presumption of innocence in the criminal trial, as well as some amendment proposals with regard to the national legislation. Veronica pointed out the importance of the moment when the reasons of the prosecution and of the defending party are being presented and the necessity of having a balance between these arguments in front of the criminal law judge.
