How can minors be effectively protected in a digital environment where social media is part of their everyday lives?
Our colleague, Maria – Ruxandra Bodea – Associate – took part, in her capacity as Special Rapporteur, in the "IACL General Congress Berlin 2026 – Congrès général de l’Académie Internationale de droit comparé”.
As part of the panel ‘Protection des données et de la vie privée dans les médias sociaux / Data Protection and Privacy in Social Media’, Maria presented the report ‘The Protection of Minors on Social Media within the Framework of EU Law’. Her presentation addressed the protection of minors on social media from the perspective of the European Union’s legal framework, in a context where the protection of personal data, privacy and the safety of children in the digital environment pose increasingly complex legal challenges.
Participation in the IACL General Congress in Berlin also provided a forum for an international comparative dialogue on how the law can respond to the transformations brought about by digital platforms.
